I was thrilled this week to have won a Pilates course from Sligo Pilates. It was the perfect prize to go hand in hand with my healthy eating and the fact I’m trying to tone up. You’re probably wondering what waves have to do with Pilates but read on and you’ll find out.
My first class was today at the beginners class with Oliver from Sligo Pilates. I was sceptical having previously done one class with another company a few years ago – it didn’t go well. You can read more about that here.
This was completely different. From the minute I walked into the centre I felt at ease. The rest of the group were so friendly, they introduced themselves and we chatted before the class began. Oliver welcomed us all and was fantastic at explaining everything.
I found it so relaxing and enjoyable. Pilates is very graceful, almost like a ballet at times. As one of the ladies said at the end of the class she felt cared for. So did I. It was a very calming environment and wonderful to be in the moment and forget about all the worries of daily life.
I did better than I thought I would, although it was quite difficult to hold my core in and breath at the same time! I didn’t die though so I obviously was breathing.
As Oliver explained everything and checked that we were doing the stretches correctly there was some relaxing music in the background. As I had my eyes closed I could hear the other participants breathing – it was just like being beside the sea and listening to the ebb and flow of the waves.
At the end of the class Oliver put a blanket on each of us and just let us relax for a few minutes and let our bodies recover. It’s certainly one of the most relaxing and enjoyable mornings I’ve had for a long time and I can’t wait for next week. My only downside was why did I wear Pug Christmas socks!!?? Next week I’ll wear plain socks like everyone else 🙂
I used to do Pilates and enjoyed it very much. Last time I tried to do it, I found it quite a bit more challenging, which just goes to show I need get back in the stretching and elongating groove. Lucky you for having won your classes!
I got Boston Terrier socks for Christmas, but exchanged them for owl socks. Only because the Bostons were a bright green and knee-highs! :O
I was very lucky Susan.
Both pairs of socks sound great, although I don’t do knee-highs 🙂
