Happy Sunday. It’s the last Sunday in August, not that you’d think it was August looking at the weather, although we haven’t had it as bad as other parts of the country. And I’m very grateful that I’m not at Electric Picnic.
I don’t know why I always start these posts with the weather, but I suppose it’s as good a starting point as any.
This week has been quite overwhelming for me, a lot of balls in the air, and a lot of very mixed emotions. I’m grateful that I feel very grounded when I’m at home, and that over the years I’ve discovered techniques that work for me, to help me decompress.
I met with a few friends during the week, it’s always lovely to see them and catch up on their news. I don’t have many friends, but I value the ones that I have. We were sitting outside at the Riverside Hotel at one of the meet-ups, and two swans flew over – they are such majestic creatures, and it was wonderful to see them. I was kicking myself that I didn’t have my proper camera, and that I wasn’t quick enough with my phone. A few minutes later my friend spotted something in the water, it was an otter! It was so amazing to watch it, I’ve never seen a wild one before (well apart from the time I thought one was a lump of wood, until it moved!) Again, I kicked myself that my camera was at home, but I did get a bit of video that you can watch here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DcjRyYdsH-U/Â

Also, this week I met the lovely tourism/business group that I’m in. We went to Tubbercurry Golf Club, which is now serving food again, and we got treated to some wonderful dishes – the two dishes above are gluten-free (the first one is vegetarian), and although I only tried a couple of bits, what I did have was delicious. I’ll be back again.

I also went for an angel card reading with Tanya in Tubbercurry. It’s been years since I’ve had one, but I kept randomly hearing songs that I played for my mum when she was dying, and I felt that it was a sign to go and have a reading. I know some people don’t believe in things like that, but I do, and I’ve had numerous experiences over the years that can’t be explained.
Tanya is incredible, on previous readings she told me that I would publish a book and that I would stand up and speak in front of people – both things happened. She also told me about a family member who lost a little boy in childhood – and the boy had his arms around her – I didn’t know about that at the time, but I asked around and this had happened.
This time it wasn’t so much about me – but more about things that were going on. Things that no one outside the family knows about, and straight away she told me about them. I actually laughed, it was just so bizarre. You can find Tanya on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/reiki.concepts.1 She also does Reiki, but I find it hard to keep still – that’s just me though.
The latest Sligo PPN podcast was also recorded this week. I met with Bridget, the manager of the Sligo Cancer Support Centre – it was a very moving conversation, but one of hope and compassion. You can listen here: https://www.sligoppn.com/sligo-community-voices-podcast-episode-24/
I was invited for dinner recently, it’s always lovely to get invited, and it doesn’t happen as often as people think it does. When I did a bit more research it turned out that they wanted live videos – that’s not what I do at all. No one needs to see me eat for a start, and also I’m very uncomfortable with that. I need to try the food before I recommend it or publish it, so I’ve politely declined. There are plenty of influencers and social media people who will do live videos – but I’m not one of them.
I think that’s about all my news for now, sorry it was such a long post! Thanks so much for reading, and wishing you all a good week ahead, and a happy September.
