I’ve been feeling quite tired for the past few months and was thinking about getting my blood tested to see if I was lacking in anything. I finally went to the GP a couple of weeks ago (about an eye issue that I’ve had for 6 months).
To cut a long story short, because I hadn’t been to the doctor for years, and because I said I was tired and had been a bit anxious they booked me in for a blood test (and a 24-hour blood pressure monitor because my blood pressure was high – it always is when I go near a doctor).
I had a blood test and monitor this week. Firstly, I hate the monitor, I’m probably a bit of a baby but I find it quite painful (fat arm syndrome), it goes off every half an hour during the day, and every hour at night. There were a few times when it couldn’t get a reading, so it did it again after five minutes. I wasn’t sorry to say goodbye to it. My blood pressure is borderline but there was one time when it went right up to 183, so I’ve been started on a low dose of blood pressure medication.
My blood test came back, and everything is good, except my B12 is very low, and I need to start on injections next week to get it into my system. It’s not the first time that I’ve needed B12, and I put my depression down to that last time. However, I’m not depressed now, I’m just really lacking in energy and quite anxious sometimes. I’ve also had recurring mouth ulcers and a sore tongue.
Funny enough, I was going to go for some kind of holistic therapy to try to balance myself out, but I didn’t have the energy to book anything. I really should start listening to my body more.
So, if you are feeling a bit out of sorts, I’d recommend getting your blood tested, just in case you might be lacking B12, Vitamin D, or something else. They don’t do a B12 test as standard, so you have to ask for it.
I’m quite sure mine could be a diet thing. I rarely eat meat, and I don’t eat eggs (unless they are chocolate), or drink milk. Anyway, the injections start next week, and I’m looking forward to the burst of energy, and possibly climbing a mountain (well hill) at 4am!
I still have the eye issue! I’m booked to see an optician in a couple of weeks, so hopefully that will get sorted out, and I’ll be able to wear make up at Lucy’s wedding.
