Thursday evening saw the launch of ‘The Surf Cafe Cook Book’. It is a beautiful book by Jane and Myles Lamberth (with Shannon Denny). Jane and Myles are the proprietors of the wonderful Shells Seaside Bakery and Cafe.
Shells is a wonderful cafe in the heart of Strandhill. I’ve had many a breakfast in there after a long leisurely stroll along the beach. I don’t do surfing…..yet 😉
The book launch was a great night. The place was packed, the food was fantasic and there was wine…..could you ask for anything else?
The book is brilliant. There are some fantastic recipes in it which I can’t wait to try and if they turn out half as good as the meals I’ve had in Shells I’m on to a winner. The book is so much more than just a cook book though. It features tips about cooking, hints about the type of foods to buy, suggestions about shopping including a great section about the Beltra farmers market. They even tell you about foraging for food…it’s amazing to think there are all kinds of goodies under our noses if you know what to look for.
There’s also helpful information for visitors to Sligo such as great walks, where to stay, restaurants, pubs and of course surfing. The book is packed with some stunning photography too. It has something for everyone. Jane and Myles come across in the book exactly as they are in real life, warm, friendly and passionate about what they do.
I wish them the very best of luck with the book. You can buy it online here.
While I’m blogging about Strandhill I must show you this wonderful video all about the place. If you are looking for fun, relaxation, adventure and more Strandhill has it all.
Lovely post Val!
Thanks Denise 🙂
