It’s hard to believe that this time last year Jono was in the operating theatre in Tallaght hospital, Dublin having his spinal fusion surgery. The operation consisited of inserting two rods one either side of Jono’s spine.
For newer readers to my blog you may not know that Jono had a kyphosis of over 90 degrees. He was finding it difficult to breath and digest food and was in a lot of pain. We had a battle to get the surgery done because of cut backs and it was all extemely stressful.
I’m happy to say a year on Jono is doing really well. He still has problems now and again, but he’s so much better then he was and he grew 4 inches in one day due to the surgery.
To mark the ‘twin rods birthday’ we got a birthday cake….it may sound a bit odd but it’s a special occasion to mark.
Well done Jono you are such a brave lad. For those of you that may not have seen the before and after photo, it’s here:

So lovely to see such a positive post. So glad that he is doing well. Will be a very Happy Christmas for you all I should imagine.
Thanks Sheila 🙂

I can’t believe it is a year ago! The cake looks lovely. It’s good to know that the surgery has made such a difference to Jono’s life.
