Another old photo but because the cats get a mention today I thought I use this photo.
I have to say how overwhelmed I have been by the kind words and support about my blog from the people on tripadvisor π
Today Lucy has had her friends over so they’ve been in and out most of the day. Andy, Jono and I managed to get out for a short walk. Andy is still recovering from the mountain walk I made him take last week!
It’s Mothers Day here tomorrow, so mum is coming over for dinner. I made a black forest gateau today (first time I’ve made one), it’s a bit messy but it’ll do. I’ll post a photo tomorrow.
I didn’t have a very good evening tonight. Somehow I managed to end up wearing half of my dinner ( and that was without any wine!). My arm had a sort of spasm and the food went everywhere….great for the diet though!
Then I went out to my beloved wheelie bin and saw that one of the cats left a poor mangled creature on the doorstep for me, they also threw up as well…..ewwww.
This picture was inspired by the poem The Cat and the Moon by WB Yeats:
The cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up.
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
Troubled his animal blood.
Minnaloushe runs in the grass
Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
When two close kindred meet,
What better than call a dance?
Maybe the moon may learn,
Tired of that courtly fashion,
A new dance turn.
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
From moonlit place to place,
The sacred moon overhead
Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
His changing eyes.
I think that cat’s are sensitive to what is going on around them. In my house the situation is that Wonderful Husband is going through medical tests and is having surgery soon and may have serious health issues. At the same time I have found that we have carpet moths and the carpets have got holes in them. This is really a minor issue compared to WF’s health, but means I have been moving the furniture and hoovering a lot. So the cats have taken to throwing up. In my good moments I think they are showing sympathy…
I think cat’s are very sensitive. One of our cats left home just before we moved. Another one disappeared when my son had his surgery π¦
I hope you husband will be OK and that you sort out the carpet moths too.
What a beautiful photo and a poem!
I can’t take credit for the poem, but can for the photo, thank you π
