Sunday Thoughts

Happy Sunday, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate. It’s also the first Sunday of April, and while I’m not sure about April showers, we’ve definitely had April storms. Storm Dave made an appearance yesterday. What kind of name is Dave for a storm?? The wind was wild, but thankfully the worst of it here was that the bins blew over. I did, however, watch videos of planes trying to land in Dublin – properly scary stuff. I was very glad not to be on one of them.

It’s been one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. At the start of it, I felt completely overwhelmed just thinking about everything I needed to do. I really don’t like weeks like that – I’d much rather things were spaced out a bit more. Still, I went back to my “little boxes” method (which I’ve since learned is called compartmentalising), and it worked a treat, as it always does.

The week went well overall, although I was exhausted by the end of it. I even fell asleep on the chair yesterday afternoon, though that might have had something to do with the cheesecake-for-breakfast sugar crash! I met a lovely friend yesterday too, and she treated me to breakfast. It was just wonderful.

On Good Friday, I headed off on a little road trip with another friend. It was such a treat – when we usually meet, it’s me rushing in and out on a flying visit. This time we went to Strandhill, and I had a hot cross bun with chocolate and marmalade cream. It was fab.

On Wednesday, I took part in “Chats in Cars” with Brendan from The Sligo Show. I had no idea what we’d be talking about until I arrived, which is exactly how I like it. He asked about what’s happening in Sligo, and luckily that’s something I could talk about all day. It’s my passion project, and I think that came across (along with a few daft faces!). I get such a buzz from things like that, so I was delighted to be asked.

I also went to the opening night of Rock of Ages in the Hawk’s Well Theatre. It was incredible. There was a bit of musical chairs at the start, we ended up in the wrong seats twice, and I briefly considered going home or just sitting on the floor rather than asking people to move again! But it all got sorted, and I’m so glad I stayed. I loved every minute of it (well, apart from the seat saga). The final night is tonight and it’s sold out, which is brilliant – the cast and crew absolutely deserve it.

I even managed to get a Sligo Food News post written. I nearly skipped it because of the workload, but I had to share my snail coffee. I love anything a bit different, and I’ve genuinely never had a cuter coffee. It was made by Julia in the Gate Lodge Café in Doorly Park – almost too nice to drink.

I think that’s everything… although I know the second I hit publish, I’ll remember something else.

Have a lovely Sunday, and a great week ahead – whatever you’re up to, and thank you for reading.
