We are big fans of model railways in this house, so we were delighted to hear that Sligo Folk Park in Riverstown now has a model railway. We went along to check it out and we were blown away! The layout is huge, it’s one of Ireland’s largest model railways.
We were talking to Alex Sneyder, who built the impressive railway and he was telling us about all the plans he has for the layout, as with most model railways it’s very much a work in progress, and we can’t wait to go back and see it again.
Sligo Folk Park is well worth a visit and is now an even better day out with the addition of the railway. You can read my blog post about the folk park here. Since I wrote that post there are now goats, ducks and rabbits for you to pet. In fact every time I go back there is something new to see.
Mrs Buckley’s Cottage is also in the process of being renovated, I’m sure it’ll be lovely when it’s finished.
