My morning at TV3

It was a very exciting but hectic week. I got a phone call on Monday to say my photo was a finalist in the Ireland AM monthly photo competition – the theme was Love. I had to be in Dublin for 9am so I got up at 4am as I was driving and I wanted to make sure I was there in time. I got my hair and make up done, it was very weird having foundation airbrushed on me…cool though! The studios are really busy in the morning, Alan Hughes seemed to be dashing everywhere. The other finalists arrived and we had a chat, Jenny the judge and photographer arrived and was very friendly.

We were called in and told what would be happening, I was very nervous as it was live TV, also because I was hoping to win the prize as it was a Canon 600D camera and I don’t have a DSLR. It wasn’t to be though, the photo in the middle of the two girls won. I was happy for Lorraine who took the photo though as she was lovely.

The highlight of the day for me was meeting Deric Hartigan. He’s the weatherman on 3e and I’ve been sending him photos for the weather reports for a few years and he’s shown a lot of them on tv. He’s a really nice guy and we had a great laugh, I was delighted to meet him.

I got my photo framed as well, which was lovely. I don’t usually print any of the photos I take so it’s great to get this one.

I also got a Canon goodie bag. It was a great experience but a very tiring day. A friend of mine put a video of our part of the show on YouTube.
