Eco-Adventure Clean Up

Happy HikersThis morning I went along to the Rennafix Group’s Eco-Adventure Clean Up. It was a great idea for people to either hike with Seatrails, bike with Northwest Adventure Tours or Stand up paddle with SUPforall to an area along the shore of the River Bonet that needed cleaning up. It is running tomorrow as well so if you want to get involved get in touch with the website.

DSCF1905I have to admit I took the easy way out and went on the boat tour of the lake with Eddie from Lough Gill Tours.

IMG_5933I had the company of a few other people and Shadow the dog. It’s awful to see the amount of rubbish that has been washed up along the shores of the river.

IMG_5962I only saw the first group cleaning up but they got a huge amount done in the time they were there.

IMG_6002I’ll never understand people who dump rubbish and litter the place. We live in such a beautiful area and it’s sad to see people not taking responsibility for the environment. On a positive note it was brilliant to see the amount of people who turned out today to this event. Not only were they doing a good deed they were also raising money for charity.

IMG_5906The next Rennafix Group event is ‘Thrill to Chill’ on April 19th. Where you can hike, bike or SUP to an outdoor cinema and camping. The rest of my photos from this morning are here.

What a great idea Val, and great shots 🙂 . I agree with you, I can’t understand why people dump rubbish, the roads to our village have been plagued recently with someone dumping their black sacks of household rubbish, it’s such an eyesore and so harmful to the local wildlife.
