Bank Holiday Happenings in Sligo

There is a lot going on this weekend for the bank holiday…the blog would run into pages if I mentioned everything so I’m going to mention my favourites.

First up is the ‘Bram Stoker Experience’. So ‘Sink your teeth into Sligo’ and come and join in the fun. Bram Stoker’s mother was from Sligo and it’s said he was inspired by her stories about cholera victims when he wrote Dracula.  I have a vampire outfit so I’m going to take part in the Guinness Book of Records ‘Most Vampires in one place’ at the IT Sligo on Sunday. For more details on all the events click on their Facebook page.

On Saturday Dave’s Jungle is coming to Sligo to visit Connacht Gold Deepwater Quay. Dave will be bringing all kinds of creatures with him (I’m not a kid but I’m going to this!) There is also a Halloween Fancy Dress Competition for the kids.

The Sligo Samhain Festival runs from October 25th to November 3rd 2013. There are loads of great events taking place including live music, a free family fun day, a samhain shindig and more. You can see the programme of events here.

On October 30th This Side Up play the T&C club in Sligo.  There will also be DJ’s and a fancy dress. All proceeds in aid of Sligo Animal Rescue.

Last but not least Sligo Live takes place from October 23rd until October 28th. There are loads of great concerts and events taking place including the wonderful Imelda May. You can see the Sligo Live website for all the details.

Enjoy whatever you do 🙂

  1. We’re definitely spoiled for choice here in Sligo for brilliant and fun Samhain/Hallowe’en festivities! Will try to get to Chapters on Saturday, and hopefully the T&C Club, too. The Guinness competition for the most vampires in one place will be great craic, I’m sure. Have a great time this weekend, Val…and maybe I’ll see you at one of these. 🙂
