I took Jono off to Bundoran today for the Back on Tracks – Model Railway exhibition. I love all things to do with railways so this was great to see. I had such fun taking these photos and trying out different settings on the Canon 100D that Canon Ireland have lent me.
There were layouts from Donegal Railway Museum…that’s another place we have to visit. Above is what was Letterkenny train station which is now the bus station. The layout is exactly the same as the Letterkenny Station used to be.
There was also a layout based on Donegal Station. It’s a real shame these railways are longer running, I’d say a lot of people would use them if they were still in operation. I much prefer the train to the bus.
Thomas the tank engine also put in an appearance.
There was also a train for the kids to ride along on. The exhibition runs tomorrow (18th August, 2013) from 1-8pm at the Great Northern Hotel.
It was great to see kids interesting in the exhibition and brilliant to talk to Selwyn from Headhunters Museum in Enniskillen. He had a lot of the items from the museum there for the weekend.
The train above was made in 1937, it’s a Hornby Princess and would have cost 5 guineas when it was bought which would have been a months wages! It’s still in perfect condition and perfect working order.
