S is for Sligo. Sligo is a beautiful county on the North West coast that I am privileged to live in.
Sligo really has the best of everything. From mountains to forests. Beaches to lakes…and everything in between.
I never tire of the beautiful scenery. The only thing that would make Sligo better is if the weather was better but you can’t have everything š

Some of my favourites among your photographs.
Thanks Frances š
Hey – glad I found you another wonderful Irish blog. To my shame I’ve never visited Sligo but these photos make me want to go there soon.
Thank you Eleanor, I hope you visit Sligo soon š
Oh my goodness, that stone building is amazing. You are so lucky to live where you do!
Thank you Jen, it’s an old schoolhouse.
The last photograph with the swans is exceptional!
Thank you š
Just stunning Val! O you are lucky to live in Sligo but more than that you have the sensitivity to really see all it’s beauty:~)
Thanks Catherine š
Beautiful pic of the horseshoe, can you tell me the history of the lovely stone building?, just curious
Thanks Gerry. The building was an old schoolhouse. It’s a shame it’s been left it would have been great to make a visitors centre or something out of it.
Someday, you must make a photo book for Sligo. The swans on the lake and the old stone house against the hills–so stunning! Susan Kane at http://thecontemplativecat.blogspot.com
I would love to do something like that.
You’re right, Sligo is beautiful. I love going back to visit.
You do a great job of showcasing it!
Thanks, I try š
It looks like a beautiful area, it really does. Gorgeous scenery and beaches. x
Thanks Gillian x
I agree completely, Val. I love living here in Sligo, too. Sligo has adopted me as one of her own and I am completely in love with and feel priviledged and honoured to call this beautiful county my home. It truly lives up to its slogan, and Yeats’ beautiful and very appropriate words: ‘the land of heart’s desire.’ Thanks, as always, for the stunning photos.
I am soooo looking forward to seeing these beautiful sights in person!
Lovely pictures, where is that dilapidated house located?
It’s an old schoolhouse in Gleniff Horseshoe, Ballintrillick, North Sligo.
