R is for Rosses Point. It’s a lovely seaside resort in Sligo. I could post loads of photos…but I won’t bore you. The statue above is very moving it’s called ‘Waiting on Shore’ and depicts the anguish felt by many waiting for their loved ones to return from sea.
The Metal Man is one of only two in the country. It dates back to 1821. I still think it looks like Elvis!
Elvis alive!
Lovely post. Xxx
Thanks Lyn xx
well done, starting with the “waiting on shore” -unknown lady stretching her arms to the sea and finishing with “iron man” -wannabe elvis pointing out(in same direction?)
I think Elvis is pointing towards the lady. It’s like Saturday Night Fever Statue Style 😉
What on earth is metal man?? He’s wonderfully ridiculous 🙂
I lke the owl house too
He’s like a lighthouse, telling boats where to sail.
Maybe Elvis saw the Metal Guy and decided the white pants look was a good one. Just went with the cape instead of the blue jacket. he he
Take 25 to Hollister
Don’t be a Hippie
True 🙂
What lovely quirky photos.
An A-Z Challenger just stopping by.
Thanks Sally 🙂
That stone house! What interesting porthole windows!
It was the old watch house, a lovely little building.
I hear Yeats loved Rosses Point, so this is another spot I am looking forward to visiting. I love how the one ‘ruin’ resembles an owl 🙂
