Jono on the front of todays paper, originally uploaded by magnum_lady.
It’s great news that the ward has been re-opened in Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. Hopefully this will make life a whole lot easier for the children having orthopaedic surgery and parents who have all been crammed into a ward with heart patients and their parents.
It’s ironic that the news comes this week as once again I seem to have a battle on my hands trying to get Jono’s check up sorted out.
He was due to go back to Tallaght in October for a check up. He’s been in quite a lot of pain recently so I just thought I would phone and see when his appointment was. Guess what? No record of any appointment. Here we go again 😦
Fabulous news re the ward Val, and you’ve played a large part in keeping it open too, how wonderful is that? Fantastic to see Jono on the front page – lovely to see an issue with a positive outcome taking the headlines rather than the dreadful stuff that normally graces it.
But as for the apppointment diary…. oh for heavens sake, not again. 😦 Seems to me that you need to call them every day until you get a date, and every day after that to ensure they’ve not lost that page of the book.
Do hope an appointment is sorted out ASAP Val – and it’s not rescheduled yet again, but in the meantime this might very well be an interesting additional piece that the paper might want to take up too… after all its hardly the first time. You’ve got the contacts, use them honey! xxx
It’s all down to the Irish Daily Mail. They really battled for the kids. xx
Just awful to hear about the appointment. Do you think they’ll EVER get their act together? I’m with PigasusSY… maybe that will be the next thing the Irish Daily Mail will take on.
Reward indeed, and by the way, don’t diminish your contribution – without your couragae (and others) in coming forward and speaking against injustice and campaigning for something that the community needs and deserves, the Irish Daily Mail wouldn’t have had much of a story. Plaudits to you all. As for the appointment, well the journey in making sure they are efficient has only just begun I suspect. Notwithstanding Jono’s discomfort this is a relatively minor blip, but write in and let them know you are keeping your eye on the ball and their inefficiency is helping to prolong someone’s suffering. What’s the point of a hospital without an administration system worthy of its name to back it up?
