For Sunday Thoughts this week, I want to share something that popped up on my Instagram feed.
I usually share locally based posts or smiling animals, but this one resonated with me. Judging by the replies I got when I shared it, it made sense to quite a few other people too.
It was a post by Dr. Etrulia Troy Lee, who I’d never heard of before. She has hundreds of thousands of followers, although it’s not all about the followers. The post said: “When people exclude you, stay excluded.”
It was about accepting that some doors close for a reason, and not trying to crawl back into people’s lives when they clearly don’t want you there. Note to me: listen!
I’m very much a people pleaser, and I find rejection quite difficult. Probably more difficult than I should. I’d love to change my mindset around that. I blame my childhood — if you know me in real life, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I often think that one day I should share my story on here. But I don’t feel ready, and I don’t know if I ever will. And that’s OK too. I toyed with the idea of writing a book about it, but I’m not sure the world needs another miserable book, and I’m not convinced writing it would do me any good either.
Anyway, back to the Instagram video. You can watch it here:
Dr Troy Lee posts a lot of videos, and I’ve just spotted another one that says “Don’t speak to yourself like you’re the enemy.”
I can see myself going down an inspirational quote rabbit hole now. It’ll make a change from honesty boxes and cakes!
Anyway, I hope you’re having a good Sunday. I’m not even going to mention the weather…..
I would say that if you were to write about your childhood, it would be a miserable book more of a celebration of what you have overcome to become an amazing woman, brilliant friend, loving wife and mother AND an tireless ambassador for the area you live in.
That being said, it is your choice and should you choose to write that book, just remember you will have an army of friends supporting and celebrating you all the way.
Ah thank you so much for such a lovely comment. Much appreciated
