Sunday Thoughts

Hello lovely readers and happy Sunday. It’s a dull day here, and not looking like the middle of August at all, very different to our neighbours over the pond, who are struggling with another heatwave. It’s warm here, just damp. Enough of the weather forecast, I’d better get on with the blog! 

I hope you are all keeping well. It’s been a rollercoaster of a week for me. Some very quiet days at the start of the week, and then it got hectic from mid-week. 

Tubbercurry Old Fair Day was my first outing. This year I was covering it for Sligo PPN, so I was chatting to some of the committee, and some of the craftspeople for a podcast – watch this space for that. I also decided to take some photos. I love capturing the atmosphere of days like this, although I’ve discovered that it’s a lot to do podcasting and photography on the same day. We had our summer team building on Thursday. We went to Boda Borg in Lough Key Forest Park. I’ve never done it before, but my goodness it was hard! Think of the Crystal Maze without Richard O’Brien! We split into teams, and the team I was in stuck to the Strategy rooms, so no crawling through tunnels, or leaping over things. It was still really difficult though, but I did love the Quiz Room. It’s well worth a visit, and I think it would be great for families. 

I went home early, because I’d managed to give myself food poisoning earlier in the week, and I wasn’t feeling the best. The only thing I can think of is that I had a few leaves of a salad that had been in the fridge for too long – it tasted a bit strange when I was eating it, so I stopped. Hence I wasn’t as sick as I could have been. This is all because I’m trying to get my cholesterol down, and watching carbs. You wouldn’t get that from a slab of cake! 

It reminds me of another time when I was on a diet and got an allergic reaction to kiwi fruit, and ended up in hospital! On a positive note I’ve lost 3lbs. I’ll take that as a win. 

Yesterday was the Belfast Model Railway Exhibition. I take Jono there every year, and we usually do a day trip, but the venue was in Dundonald this year, and I really didn’t fancy doing the long drive in a day, so we stayed the night. I was looking for good deals, and surprisingly The Stormont Hotel was the best price – we were thinking of staying somewhere along the way, but Enniskillen was way too expensive, so Stormont it was. 

It was definitely the right decision to stay the night, we enjoyed the exhibition more because we weren’t exhausted. I also got a chance to go exploring, and I went to a gorgeous Sunflower farm, but I’ll tell you all about that in another post.
