I’d been seeing Dream Coffee Sligo pop up on my social feeds all week, so I made a plan to meet a friend and check it out for myself.
And what a spot. Tucked in at Healy Plants, down by the Holy Well on the shores of Lough Gill, it’s one of those places that instantly makes you relax. Even though it’s outdoors, the tables are undercover, and when the sun is shining, there really is nowhere quite like Sligo.

I had a lovely chat with Gabrielle, who runs the café. She told me it had always been her dream to open a coffee shop – hence the name – and it’s very much a family-run affair, with her daughter helping out and her husband making some of the treats.

Speaking of treats… I had a raspberry brownie that was absolutely gorgeous. I added ice cream too, because, well, when I’m out, I’m out 😉 We also shared a flapjack (equally delicious), and there are raw brownies available as well, which are both vegan and gluten-free.
It’s not just about coffee and cake either. There are board games dotted around, making it a lovely stop for families, and I’ve heard their toasted sandwiches are well worth trying if you’re not in a sweet mood.

We sat right by the water, watching a moorhen and her chicks – it was so lovely. Not the best photo in the world, as they were fairly fast moving. I saw a duck enjoy his breakfast too! Afterwards, we wandered down to the lakeside for a look at the boats.

It was the perfect way to spend the morning, and I’ll be back again soon. Coffee, cakes, plants, and nature – what more could you want?
