Family friendly Christmas events in the North West

With so many things being cancelled over the last year or so, there’s more interest than ever for things to do this Christmas. Here are some things I’ve noticed in Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo and Roscommon, that might be of interest, as numbers are limited for most events early booking is advisable.

Winter Wonderland at Westport House, Co. Mayo. November 20th – December 23rd. Explore Tinsel Town through the Tunnel of Light. Visit Santa and the Live Crib, hop on the Winter Wonderland Express Train to visit Westport House, and more. Full details here:

Join Elsa this Christmas for 1 Hour of Magic, Musical Theatre, Crafts, Storytelling, Poetry, Carols & more at Elsa’s Christmas Celebration in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim. December 3rd. Booking here:

Strokestown Park host a Winter Garden Wonderland on 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th December 2021. Celebrate Christmas and Meet Santy and a Host of Festive Characters in our Magical Walled Garden.

Lissadell Under the Stars in Sligo are hosting drive in movies on December 4th, 11th and 18th. Choose from Elf, The Grinch, Home Alone and more. Book here:

Santa is coming to the Sligo Folk Park in Riverstown. Although there’s no Santa Town this year there will still be a lot for the children to enjoy and you can take a socially distanced photo with Santa. Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th December and Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th December 2021. Book here:

Santa’s Underground Grotto is back at the Arigna Mining Experience in Roscommon. Sat 11th Dec & Sun 12th December with entertainment by Joe Daly (Magician).

Roscommon Christmas Festival will take place at the newly regenerated Town Square on the 11th and 12th December 2021 from 3pm to 8pm. You can expect Music, Street Performances, Christmas Market and Food Stalls. Find out more here:

Christmas Market and Santa Experience at the North Mayo Heritage Centre, Enniscoe, Co. Mayo 11th & 12th December and the 18th & 19th December. More details here:

The Creator Studio, Skreen, Sligo, will be transformed into Santa’s magical Grotto for children to come and visit Santa and hand him their Christmas list. Once the list is delivered and the chat is done, Santa will hand a golden ticket to the children, giving them access to the temporary Elves workshop next door to build their very own to build their very own toy! 18th and 19th of December

Adventures on Old MacDonald’s Farm on December 12th in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Fun, songs and more, in a show aimed at 2 – 7 years.
