This afternoon I headed over to the Leitrim Sculpture Centre in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. There was a lovely Christmas event by Gaelscoil Chluainín taking place and I was also hoping to check out the farmers market.
Due to my date with the doctor I missed the market but I did enjoy the Christmas event. What I liked most about the day was how friendly everyone was. From the fair to the supermarket people were happy to chat, it was just lovely.
I had a little walk around the town until the hailstones started and I retreated into the Castle Cafe, it’s a great place! I had warm apple pie with hot chocolate – 12 Treats of Leitrim might be on the cards!
I also enjoyed my brief look at The North West Christmas Open Exhibition in the sculpture centre. There was a beautiful wooden house that I just loved and could have looked at for hours. I couldn’t see who made it but I’d love to find out so I could say well done to them. The exhibition runs until January 11th.
So that was my lovely couple of hours in Manorhamilton. I’m heading to another part of Leitrim tomorrow, Drumshanbo, for the fantastic Taste Leitrim Winter Feast, this is a free event and all are welcome. The day will be full of food demos, events for the children and the best of Leitrim food and drink. Hopefully I’ll see some of you there.
