Amazing Amatsu

Last month I had the most wonderful therapy with Helen Cantrell in Strandhill, Co. Sligo. My friend recommended Amatsu to me and although I’d heard about it before I’d never tried it.

Amatsu therapy is a modern adaptation of a soft tissue therapy that has been used for thousands of years in Japan. It is based on ancient principles of natural movement and can be used to help many musculo-skeletal and lifestyle related conditions, as well as supporting the restoration of general health and well-being.

Amatsu is a whole body treatment that works with the body’s soft tissue (e.g. muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments and organs) to help to re-balance other key mechanical and energetic structures (e.g. the spine, bones, joints, cranium and meridian circuits).

Treatments (balances) are suitable for people of all age groups and those with limited mobility.

When I arrived at Helen’s home I was a bit nervous, I wasn’t really sure what to expect although my friend had told me it was painless and that she found it great. I had to fill out a questionnaire about my health issues and Helen discussed any concerns with me.

It’s hard to describe the treatment but it was so relaxing – when I got over the horror of the fact I was wearing Christmas socks and that my stomach started making the most awful noises!

There were a couple of places where I had a bit of pain, mainly on my knees and my ribs. Helen told me I had a blocked pituitary gland which I was amazed at. After my treatment I got off the couch feeling about a stone lighter and felt like I was gliding along instead of walking.

You’ll know if you’ve been reading the blog that I’ve had anxiety and depression problems. Well I have to say the week after my Amatsu Treatment was the best week I’ve had this year. The tension in my shoulders had gone for the first time that I could remember, it was like a weight had been lifted. That night I slept the whole night – a miracle! In fact that’s what I think Helen is – a miracle worker.

I was so impressed with how great I felt that I booked Jono in for a treatment. As he has spinal rods Helen had to avoid his spine but apart from that there were no issues. Jono came out with no pains in his shoulders which again is a miracle as he has been in chronic pain for years. He’s planning another visit to Helen soon as once again he had a fantastic week.

The way I look at it is that you would book your car in for a service so why not yourself? I wish I’d had the energy to go to Helen way before now and I won’t leave it so long next time.

I’ve been spreading the word of Helen and Amatsu to my family and friends, I honestly think it will benefit so many people. You can find Helen daily at Strandhill and Evergreen Clinic, Innisfree House, High Street. Sligo. Also Bi-monthly: Kilcock, Co.Kildare, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. Call 087 699 7958 Helen’s Facebook page is here.

  1. I haven’t heard of Amatsu therapy, and unfortunately, Helen is too far away for me to visit. But I’ll see if I can find a practitioner here. Thanks for the suggestion!
