The first part of Jono’s Journey to the World Pokemon Championships began today. We took the bus from Sligo to Dublin airport and are spending the night at the Metro Hotel Dublin Airport.
The bus journey was lovely and comfortable and what really made Jono’s day was that our friend Aafke was waiting at Edgeworthstown with a lovely sign to wish Jono luck. She also had some flowers for my hair…it was such a lovely gesture and we were emotional when we saw her. 🙂
When we arrived at Dublin airport we got the shuttle bus to the Metro Hotel – which is just a short distance from the airport. The hotel have been wonderful, when they heard of Jono’s Journey they gave us a room for the night to save the long trip from Sligo on the same day as the flight. It’s a lovely hotel too, spotlessly clean and very spacious.
We had dinner here this evening and it was gorgeous. I would certainly stay here again if I was flying from Dublin airport. Thanks to all at the hotel for their kindness especially Kati who was just so helpful from start to finish and to Sarah who welcomed us when we arrived.
We have a great view of the planes coming in to Dublin from our hotel room. Tomorrow we get on a direct flight from Dublin to San Francisco which will take roughly ten hours. Hopefully it will all go OK. I’ll keep you updated.
