Hidden Histories

Temple HouseI was delighted to go along to the ‘Hidden Histories’ Book Launch in Sligo today.  I volunteered to do some research and take photos for the project which was run by Sligo Leader. I really enjoyed it and it was great to find out more about Sligo especially the places I researched: Markree Castle, Temple House and Coopershill. I also met some really nice people and only got one minor injury when I had to climb over a gate and landed in a pothole!! That’s quite good going for me 🙂

IMG_5324I can’t begin to tell you how exciting it was to see my photos in the book. I never print any of my pics so to see them in real life and not on a computer screen was just something else. It takes away the disappointment of not being in the final of the Irish Blog Awards.

Sligo Leader/volunteersAbove are just some of the people involved in the book. I’m hoping they’ll be a Hidden Histories 2 as I’ve since discovered Kevinsfort House and I would have loved for that house to be included in the book. I’m sad to say the book isn’t on sale as it isn’t for profit but there is a copy in Chapter’s Coffee House, Bridge Street, Sligo (so grab a cuppa and have a look) and there should be a copy going into Sligo library.
