My I is for Innisfree as in the Isle of Innisfree. It’s a little Island in the middle of Lough Gill, Sligo, Ireland.
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evenings full of the linnet’s wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear the lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
The Lake Isle of Innisfree
By W. B Yeats
Beautiful, Val. One of my favourite poems by the great man himself. Perfect choice
for ‘I’, as well. It’s a good idea, this A to Z thing, and fun, too.
Thanks June 🙂
Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo, Val. As you know, ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’ is also one of my favourite W.B. Yeats poems, too!
I thought of you when I picked Innisfree 🙂
Awwww, thanks, Val! ❤
I love your blog, truly love it, but I’m struggling against WordPress. Will keep banging at the gates, and see if somehow I can get through! Thanks. Susan Kane @the contemplativecat
