So today I turned 45!! I don’t feel it at all…well I wouldn’t have done if I didn’t fall flat on my backside yesterday…but that’s a whole other story!
I had a lovely day, Lucy and Jono gave me chocolates and the family got me a voucher for afternoon tea at Markree Castle, so I’m really looking forward to that. We went out for dinner at Yeat’s Tavern today and it was wonderful, especially the dessert which was very unexpected as we hadn’t booked a table.
Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoyed that dessert…. yum. 🙂
Thanks Jillian, it was great 🙂
Lovely family day!
It was 🙂
Wishing you a very happy birthday, Val!
Markree Castle is a wonderful place to have lunch or dinner or even just coffee and a sweet snack.
Yeats’ Tavern? Is that the place in Curry, or am I thinking of somewhere completely different?
Glad you and your family had a great day, and especially, that you had a lovely birthday celebration.
Thanks June, I’m looking forward to the Markree Castle visit. Yeats Tavern is in Drumcliff…it’s also called Davis’s.
Just found out where Yeats’ Tavern is (I asked my friend who lives in Bundoran and knows north Sligo much better than I do) – it’s that beautiful place in Drumcliffe, going towards Grange/Cliffoney. I’ve heard from a few friends that it is an absolutely wonderful place – either for a celebration or a quiet romantic meal. Either way, I’m glad you had a lovely birthday, Val.
It is a wonderful place. We always enjoy going there….you’ll have to try it.
Great timing, Val. I just sent a follow-up comment to you about Yeats’ Tavern.
Yes, you will fall in love with Markree Castle (you already know how beautiful it is on the outside, with the gorgeous photos you took of it a little while back). And the rooms there are beautfiul, too. A friend of mine was staying there on the overnight for a friend’s wedding, and didn’t fancy driving all the way back to Dublin after the reception, so she booked a room there – not only is it great value for money, but the room, she said was absolutely 5 star and classy and comfortable.
They’ve a great selection of food there – everything from light snacks to light lunches to full dinners, lovely wine selection, too. What a lovely gift to have received from your family. Whenever you decide to go for your afternoon tea, I know you’ll really enjoy it. Such a warm, comfy, friendly, cozy place to chillax.
I’ve been in it before but not to eat. So it’ll be a nice treat 🙂
Ah brilliant Val, you look like you had a fab day, Happy Birthday 🙂
Thanks Claire, I had a lovely day 🙂
Happy birthday and may all your dreams come true!
Thanks Cornelia 🙂
Just started to follow your blog – does Magnum refer to the photographic agency and are you a professional photographer? I live in Belfast but we holiday in Bundoran – I have an uncle who lives in Sligo – you might know him as he was a very popular teacher in the national school before he retired – his name is Brendan Brogan.
Hi Maureen, no I’m not a professional photographer and Magnum doesn’t relate to the agency.
I’m sorry I don’t know your uncle. Thanks for following the blog 🙂
