Today I went to visit the Sathya Sai Sanctuary. It’s in Castlebaldwin, Co. Sligo just beside the Carrowkeel Megalithic Tombs.
Sue Paling runs the sanctuary and is doing wonderful work for the donkeys and ponies in her care. She is a lovely lady and explains all about the animals and their stories. Some have been taken in by her because their owners died, others were abused and in a really sorry state. I have to wonder at people who abuse animals.
The sanctuary is a lovely peaceful place to visit. I took along gingernut biscuits and carrots for the animals. It was great fun feeding the donkeys they were all trying to get more biscuits, at one point I was surrounded by them. Not to be outdone Rufus the dog wanted a biscuit too.
We are holding a jumble sale and raffle next week on June 23rd in aid of the donkey sanctuary and also Sligo Animal Rescue. It’s on from 10am-5pm in the Methodist Hall, Sligo. We have some great jumble and amazing raffle prizes. I will do a blog soon about the prizes. Do please come along and help us raise funds for these wonderful animals and the people who work so hard to care for them. If anyone have any spare time on that day and would like to help us please let me know. More details are here.
Rufus the dog is wonderful. This is him smiling! Such a lovely little guy.
This is Sue kissing Guinness the horse. What a lovely day I had there. The rest of the photos are here.
