Lovely Sligo

One of the things I love about Sligo is how interesting and diverse the place is. Take yesterday for instance. In the morning we went to the Farmers market and into Connacht Gold to check out the new coffee shop which is run by Drumcliffe Tea Rooms and is fab. A great addition to the store.

After that we had a stroll along Rosses Point beach with lunch at The Waterfront Restaurant. A quick trip to the new Aldi (after my 3rd attempt to get in I finally made it!) It’s a lovely store but just to let you know the trollies only take 2 euro coins.

Anyway I had a brief trip to the Holy Well see the photo at the top of the page. I’m not religious but I always like a candle when I’m there and make a wish.

Around the corner from the Holy Well is the Waterglades Garden Centre. So I went there for a look, it’s set on the shores of Lough Gill so it’s a very pretty place to visit.

They really had a stunning range of flowers.

After my wander around there I took a left turn and ended up at Dooney Rock. A really stunning place to visit.

A quick walk brings you alongside the rock and down to the shores of Lough Gill.

I followed the walkway around and ended up on top of the rock. It was beautiful up there, so peaceful and scenic, luckily there was a bench up there because I needed it šŸ˜‰

The view from the top was magical, all over Lough Gill and over to Ben Bulben. I’m going back on a nicer day though….I would have liked the have a blue sky for the photo.

When I walked back down from the top and found my car I headed to Slish Wood, I didn’t have long here as I had to head back to town.

Again it is a beautiful place, when I have a longer I’ll have a proper look around. I loved the donkeys and cows across the road. Unfortunately they didn’t come over to say hello….and it’s a dangerous road to stand on because of the bends so I didn’t hang around.
