Archery at Sligo Golf Academy

Today was a very changeable day weather wise in Sligo. The typical four seasons in one day. Regular readers to my blog will know I’m not much of a shopper so traipsing around the shops isn’t my idea of fun. So what else is there to do in Sligo? Loads actually including a trip to the Sligo Golf Academy in Ransboro, Strandhill.

Lucy and I headed there today to try our hand at archery. Tommy was there to meet us and set us up with the bows, arrows and targets. He also gave us some good tips although to be quite honest with me it’s more luck than judgement.

It’s a really lovely place set in beautiful countryside surrounded by sheep and lambs. I was quite concerned that one of my arrows might stray and hit one of them but thankfully it didn’t (I’m not that good a shot anyway 😉 )

Lucy is a bit of a natural (unlike me) and most of her arrows hit the target (again unlike me….my arrows were all over the place!) The great thing about both the golf and the archery is that you are actually under cover so even though there was a heavy shower when we were there we stayed dry….a real bonus in Ireland.

This is our target, by some fluke the two arrows in the yellow were ones I shot! It surely was a miracle.

As well as the activities there is also a lovely coffee shop with comfortable sofas. So even if the rest of the family want to try their hand at golf and archery you can sit in comfort and watch. It really is a great bonus to Sligo and we’ll certainly be back again.
