The Glen

Today was a lovely day. My friend Martina and I climbed Knocknarea although it was really too misty to get pictures of the lovely views. So in the words of Blue Peter here’s some I took earlier.

I’ve wanted to find The Glen for a long time. It’s just down the road from Knocknarea but I was never really sure where. Thanks to the good people on twitter today I finally found it. At first look it doesn’t seem to be anything special…just a muddy track with some branches strewn around.

In some places it’s quite steep as I found out when I almost went flying down a hill….luckily Martina grabbed hold of me or I might not be here tonight typing this 😉

As we walked along we ended up in a chasm with rock faces either side of us. It really was a magical place. So peaceful…all we could hear were birds singing. There was a little makeshift swing from one of the trees so we turned into kids again as we swung around the place!

There were a few bluebells around, I’m going back when hopefully there will be more flowers in bloom.

You can read more about The Glen here. Now that I’ve finally found the place I will be back. Martina and I rounded off our day with lunch at The Strand bar in Strandhill…which I also went to the other day with Lucy and will feature in my next blog post.

  1. I like all of the images above but something about image # 4 is magical! I really love that image and it reminds me of a place where a Disney or Brothers Grimm character would take a walk. Thanks for sharing.
