It’s been quite a while since I last wrote a Sunday Thoughts post. Not because I’ve had nothing to say, quite the opposite. My head has been full of things I could write about, but for some reason I just haven’t felt like putting them down on the page. So instead, I’ve said nothing at all. That’s probably not the best approach, because the thoughts just keep circling around in my mind.
Since I last wrote to you, I’ve had a birthday, which was really lovely, if you’d like to read about it, you can find that post here. I also had a piece included in an art exhibition. Unfortunately it didn’t sell, which meant doing the slightly awkward walk back in to collect it at the end. Let’s just say it wasn’t my favourite moment. Note to self: maybe think twice before entering another exhibition.
Today is International Women’s Day – for those who celebrate it. There are so many incredible women out there (and men too). They’re not the people making the headlines or receiving awards, but they’re quietly getting on with things, fighting their own battles and keeping going. Those are the real warriors in my eyes. To all the unsung heroes – well done.
Of course, not everyone is always supportive of others. I’ve noticed recently that my blog seems to rub some people up the wrong way. I’ve always said that I’m not in competition with anyone, and I’m always open to collaborating. But at the same time, I can only write about things I genuinely know about: places I’ve visited, businesses I’ve used, experiences I’ve actually had.
A couple of businesses, and even an author, have approached me recently, which is always lovely. But I’ve had to say no. As nice as it is to be asked, I can’t recommend something I haven’t used or read myself. Hopefully they understand that. Authenticity has always mattered more to me than saying yes for the sake of it.
There are a few other things on my mind that I could write about, but sometimes it’s better to leave things unsaid, at least for now. Timing matters, and sometimes saying less really is the better option.
On a more positive note, the days are getting a little longer and we’ve even had some blue skies recently. I managed to get washing dried outside, which felt like a small victory. Sometimes that’s enough – a bit of sunshine, a clear head, and the reminder that tomorrow is another day.
I hope you are all keeping well, and thank you for reading. Wishing you all a happy Sunday.
“…..to get washing dried outside…… a bit of sunshine, a clear head, and the reminder that tomorrow is another day.”
You are so right! Thanks for thoughts and heads up.
Thank you x
I fully comprehend that it must have been awkward to collect your item after the exhibition, but please don’t let that deter you from entering another one.
I admire you for putting your work out there.
And you are so right; authenticity is everything. There’s too many people out there who would do just about anything for a few likes.
Thanks so much. I’m not sure that I will enter another one, I don’t have the confidence.
I hope that I’m always authentic, there are plenty of others who will promote everything.
