Seventeen years. If Magnumlady were a person, she’d be learning to drive, and insisting she’s no longer a child. And honestly? The blog feels a bit like that – older, wiser, but still full of curiosity and mischief.
When I started Magnumlady back in 2009, I had no idea where it would take me. What began as a little corner of the internet to share photos, snippets of life, and the odd adventure has grown into something that has shaped so much of my world. It helped me find a voice, a community, and sometimes even myself.
Looking Back
Over the years, the blog has watched Sligo change – and it’s watched me change too. It has seen new passions spark, challenges unfold, and wonderful opportunities appear. Through camera lenses, rambles, reviews, local stories, and mental‑health honesty, this blog has become an archive of a life lived out loud and online.
I’ve met people who asked, “Are you Magnumlady?” It usually happens when I’m in a shop, buying something mundane like toilet roll!
That still surprises me every time. This simple blog has opened doors, started conversations, and helped me feel connected to a place and a community I love deeply.
What I’m Grateful For
- Everyone who reads, comments, or quietly follows along – you’re the reason this space keeps going.
- The stories that found me because of the blog: local characters, small businesses, events, and unexpected adventures.
- The courage it gave me to talk about the good days and the hard ones. The blog is my form of therapy.
- Winning awards. I had no idea when I started the blog that it would help me win some awards. I’m very proud.

Seventeen years is a long time to keep anything going, especially online. But somehow, this blog still feels like home.
Looking Ahead
I don’t know exactly what the next chapter looks like, but I hope it brings:

- and plenty of surprises.
- and cake! There’s not a sniff of cake today!
