Happy Sunday, it’s hard to believe that it’s the last Sunday before Christmas, there was such a huge buildup to it, and now it’s finally here. It’s also Winter Solstice today, and it’s a reminder that the days get longer from now on, and we are gradually moving away from the darkness.

I don’t know about you, but it’s felt like a long year to me. I’ve certainly pushed myself too much over the last couple of months. I felt that recently where I went to two events in one day. I was already tired, and in hindsight I shouldn’t have gone to the second event. I felt slightly obligated and if I hadn’t gone I’d have felt guilty for not going. I felt very much like a spare part, and I know most of this is in my head, but I came home a bit dejected and ended up not sleeping because I was overplaying things. Anyway, I’m parking that now, but it does make me realise that there are a lot of people who just want me for what I can do for them, and don’t see me as a person.
This year has been a real eye-opener and showed me who the people are who are there for me, and each year that circle gets smaller, and I’m OK with that, it’s quality not quantity.
I’m sort of organised for Christmas, although I still have to do the ‘big shop’, I’m debating on doing it tomorrow or Tuesday, I’ll leave early in the morning, and hopefully get most of it done. I’m at that stage where I’ll either start buying random things, or I’ll forget most of the things I need.
Some lovely things happened this week. I met a couple of friends for coffee and a catch-up, it’s lovely to say the things that don’t get mentioned on the blog – and believe me there’s quite a lot that doesn’t! They are the people who know me as Val, not Magnumlady, the people who I really trust, and it’s always good.

I visited the most beautiful event in Grange yesterday, it’s a model village/railway, and it’s an absolute credit to the people who built it. I loved chatting to them about it. They are from SF Engineering and the village is to raise funds for the RNLI and North West Hospice. It’s the last chance to see it this afternoon (Sunday 21st December – from 2.30 – 4.30pm). It’s in SF (Vets building), Grange, F91 FK4R. Well done to all involved, it really is stunning.

On my way home I stopped off at Pink Clover for coffee, and was handed their Festive Focaccia, it’s the little things like this that lift my spirits. It was fabulous, and very kind of Michelle.
I was cooking dinner last night, and all of a sudden there was a bang and a flash of light. The fuse box tripped, and luckily I have a little table top oven so I could carry on cooking dinner. I’m now not sure if it’s the cooker that’s gone, or the light bulb from the oven that caused the issue. I’m hoping it’s the latter because I’ll be scuppered if I need to buy a new cooker this close to Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Before I say goodbye, I want to share my Christmas video. Some of the businesses who supported the blog took part in this, and I hope you enjoy it. If I don’t speak to you beforehand I wish you all a very happy Christmas, and thank you for reading my blog.
Aye….happy (longer) days on their way (as is the snailmail).
Thanks and hugs from here to there, Val.
