Sunday Thoughts

It’s time for another Sunday Thoughts blog post, and it’s been such a rollercoaster of a couple of weeks. My emotions have been all over the place, but I’ve also surprised myself with how calm I’ve been. It’s such an enormous change to how I used to be when the slightest thing would send me into a panic.

I say I was calm, I should clarify, during the day I was calm, but it was a different story at night. I had so many sleepless nights in the lead-up to Lucy’s wedding, maybe the calmness was just tiredness! I thought after the wedding my sleep would settle, but no, I had very broken sleep because I was processing everything. I really wish that I didn’t do that, but I seem to do it with everything, and because the wedding was such a huge deal for me it took me longer to process that. It’s hard to explain, but when I was sleeping it was like watching a movie of it, full colour and amplified sound.

It was an absolutely fabulous day though, certainly one of the highlights of my life. The daft thing is that everything I worried about beforehand didn’t happen at all, and the things I didn’t think about (like nosebleeds!) did happen! I’ve no idea why but I ended up having three nosebleeds on the day, and I never have them. I haven’t had any since either.

Because I was in this wedding bubble I hadn’t even thought about anything after the wedding, so there was nothing for dinner, and Coolaney Chinese Takeaway has closed down (sob). Luckily a plunge in the depths of the freezer of happiness produced something quite dull that did the job.

You can read all about the wedding here, it was a really wonderful day. Huge congratulations again to Lucy and Laurence, we are so happy for them.

Onto other news. The blog was in danger of going, it was costing me money that I couldn’t justify and couldn’t afford, and although I love having the blog it was looking like it was time to pull the plug. I had put a call out for sponsors, and although I had a couple of people contacting me, it didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Along came Brenden Tierney, and saved it, and I will always be grateful. Brendan rallied some businesses, and now I have my own dream team. You can read all about that here

It was Culture Night and Friday, and I visited The Leitrim Design House. I’ve been working with them over the summer to document the Co-Create Project. I love having a creative project to work on, it gives me a chance to get out with my camera, something that I don’t do nearly enough. It also gave me a chance to see behind the scenes of artists at work. You can read more about The Leitrim Design House culture night here. I also got a chance to meet a friend that I hadn’t seen for a while beforehand, so that was lovely.

Yesterday I took Jono to the Erne Model Railway Exhibition in Enniskillen, this is an annual event, and we both enjoy going. We love seeing the model railway layouts, and it’s a really friendly atmosphere. I also went to a couple of shops, but the value isn’t the same in Northern Ireland as it used to be. It’s a nice day out for a change of scenery though.

Next week is slightly quieter, we do have a Pink Coffee Morning taking place at work, it’s in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland – which is strange timing as I have a breast check on Monday. I had a scare some years ago, but it was just a cyst. If you are near Leitrim Village on Wednesday, do come and join us. You can read about the coffee morning here.

Thanks so much to you for reading the blog, I hope that you are all keeping well. I know some of you missed the blog when it was down, thanks to my sponsors normal service will be resumed for the next year at least.
