There’s a gorgeous place in Leitrim called O’Rourke’s Table, it’s located in Newtownmanor, not too far from Dromahair or Parke’s Castle. From the plateau there are magnificent views over Leitrim and Sligo, on a clear day it’s absolutely stunning.

300 steep steps used to take people up to the summit, I know I counted them! Sadly the walkway fell into disrepair in recent years and had to be closed. The locals have decided to do something about this and are organising a fundraiser to make a safer walkway, one that will enable people of all ages to get to the table safely.
Kevin Comiskey, one of the local people involved, was recently on Ocean FM telling Francie Boylan all about the plans for the walk and how people can join in with the ‘Step it Up’ Campaign. You can listen back here: https://www.oceanfm.ie/2021/05/07/kevin-comiskey-on-orourkes-table-fundraiser/

I hear there are great plans for a hooley on the mountain when the walk is completed and I wish the committee all the very best of luck.
