Lucy is back for the weekend so we had a mooch around town today, taking in some of the Sligo jazz festival with some of the concerts taking place around the town.
Before that we took a spin to Beltra Country Market as they were having a craft swap. I took along a set of oil paints, I have no patience for oil, and I got some lovely shiny bits and bobs from Maria – who makes beautiful jewellery. I have turned into a bit of a magpie and would like to try to make some kind of collage or something similar so the shiny things might help.
We went into Albany/Decorplan in Sligo town and drooled over the gorgeous home-wares they have and also the lovely furnishings and wallpaper. I asked if they had any old wallpaper or books for my art projects and I was over the moon when they gave me some! I’m spoilt for choice now between my lovely paper and my jewels. So watch this space to see what happens next.
We had lunch in Jalan Jalan which is one of the newer restaurants in Sligo. I’d heard great things about this place and it was lovely. There’s a lot of choice on the menu, great for vegetarians too as you can choose from veg, tofu or meat for most dishes. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! Main course prices start from a tenner including boiled rice or chips so it won’t break the bank. There was only one little niggle for me and that was that the banoffee pie tasted a bit ‘fridgy’ if you know what I mean. Like it had been in the fridge with veg or other things that tainted it a bit. This was only a minor niggle though and I would certainly go back but I probably wouldn’t have a dessert again.
All in all it was a lovely way to spend a Saturday.
