I got my ears pierced today. For the second time in my life. I was 9 years old the first time around when I was dragged into an alcoholic jeweller in Galway. Needless to say it hurt and I was left with two wonky holes – in my ear lobes!
My ears didn’t heal very well and I didn’t really get on with earrings. This year for my birthday I was given the most beautiful pair of earrings from Martina Hamilton and I was determined that I will wear them. So off I trotted today to Claire’s Accessories in Johnston Court, Sligo.
I was very, very, nervous but Fionnuala who pierced my ears was just lovely. She was so friendly and put me at ease immediately. The first ear hurt a little bit, I didn’t feel the second one at all. The worst part was trying to get my rather large backside to stay on the chair! Compared to the tattoo the ear piercing is a walk in the park. I have little silver star studs in at the moment and when my lobes have healed I can change them for my beautiful new ones. I think it’s fairly safe to say I won’t be getting anything else pierced. I can hear the sighs of relief from here 😉
