I love Shrove Tuesday or pancake day. I’d have to say it’s one of my favourite days of the year, you can keep Valentine’s Day as the pancakes win my heart every time. This year I was planning to do a pancake crawl of Sligo but Jono has a hospital appointment so I’ll do in next year instead.
I’d hate you all to miss out though so if you are a pancake fan here are some suggestions.
Charity pancake events:
Henry’s Bar and Restaurant on the N15 Sligo – Donegal Road have pancakes for the North West Simon Community 12 noon – 6pm
Eala Bhan are serving sweet and savoury pancakes including a Cadbury’s Creme Egg one from 12 noon – 3pm with proceeds going to North West Hospice.
Sligo Traveller Support Group will a host a Smiley Pancake fundraising event in aid of Mental Health Ireland (MHI). It’s from 12 noon to 2pm in their offices opposite Aldi.
Other venues serving pancakes on Tuesday are:
The Blind Tiger – try the melted chocolate and mint choc chip ice cream one….drool.
Cawley’s Hotel in Tubbercurry have a gorgeous banana and Baileys pancake, served with ice cream and drizzled in chocolate.
Nook in Collooney are serving sweet and savoury pancakes, including Japanese Okonomiyaki.
O’Hehir’s Bakery in the Tesco Arcade will be cooking pancakes on a hot plate at the front of their store.
Little Cottage Cafe in Rosses Point if you want pancakes by the sea.
Osta Cafe and Wine Bar, Mammy Johnston’s, Strandhill, WB’s Coffee House serve pancakes every day – not just Shrove Tuesday.
