There is a lot going on in Sligo in the run up to the Halloween season so perhaps if you’ve never visited Sligo now would be the ideal time to plan a break along the Wild Atlantic Way.
17th – 27th October. Children’s Secret Cinema at The Model for a fortnight in October. This pop-up cinema invites children of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of films from classics to animation Tuesday – Friday at 3.15 pm. This is a free event but first come first served.
18th October (estimated) until 1st November The Haunted Barn, Stephen’s Street CarPark. 8 rooms of spooky scares. Are you brave enough? €8 per person.
26th October to Sunday 12th November (weather permitting) Easkey Scarecrow Festival. Take a drive through the village of Easkey and prepare for some spooky surprises! Free event.
27th October Fancy Dress Quiz Night in The Castle Inn, Easkey.
27th Halloween Party at Laura’s of Carney. 6-11.30pm Fancy dress with live music and finger food. €10
27th October 7pm Samhain – a history of the dark West of Ireland. The Big Red Barn, Stephen Street Carpark.
27th-28th October Hazelwood Haunting, Hazelwood Forest. At the time of writing this post this event is almost sold out so don’t miss out. €7 per person.
27-29 October Haunted Horror House and Scare in the Park, Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown 6 – 8pm. Children €5 adults free. Fancy dress, music and dance, Halloween parade and more.
28th October Halloween Party and Fancy Dress Competition, The Quayside 1-4pm. DJ, face painting and prizes for the best costumes. As far as I know it’s a free event.
28th October Sligo Live Family Fun Day, Johnston Court 2-5pm. Free event, arts and crafts for the kids and the amazing Flea Circus.
28th – 31st October – Various events at the Hawk’s Well Theatre including A Wicked witchCRAFT Party, Revolting Rhymes, Terrible Toddlers, Dance like a Zombie and more. You can find out all the details here.
29th October Sligo’s Ultimate Fancy Dress Party at the Garavogue. Live music with UV5 followed by late night DJ and €250 cash prize.
30th October 6.30pm Making of a Medium Sligo Omniplex €10
31st October Halloween Party in the Blind Tiger fancy dress welcome, cupcakes in aid the The Holy Family Centre, movies, a raffle and more. Prize for the best fancy dress.
31st October Halloween Spooktacular in Dromore West Community Centre 3-5pm. Tickets €2 on the door (all children must be accompanied by an adult).
31st October Cartron Kids Halloween Disco at the Village Inn Cartron 7-9pm. Fancy dress, DJ and party games €10 max. per family
The Sligo Markets will probably have their own Halloween events. No details at the time of posting.
Saturday you can visit Beltra Country Market, The Farmer’s Market at the IT Sligo, Rathcormac Country Market and Drummartin Country Market. Cliffoney Country Market takes place on the first and third Sunday of the month.
Strandhill People’s Market takes place every Sunday at Sligo airport from 11am – 4pm.
