Monday thoughts – vlog

Well I had a bit of a moan about Bus Eireann on my blog this morning, I still think I was well within my rights to do so. What I didn’t expect was someone to have a dig at me. More in the vlog.

  1. I’m delighted you posted about this bullying – that’s what the person calling names is doing.
It frightened me to hear what happened Lucy, that driver wasn’t safe as he wasn’t concentrating. I’m glad you posted about it on the blog.
Anxiety and depression are frightening for those of us suffering.
I found Mindfulness has cleared my anxiety, after I started to practice alone with CDs. I was hospitalized for my “major depressive episode”, the best thing I’ve done and I make no secret of my illness nor my needing professional help.
I’ve found that negative reactions come from people who a) like to mind others’ business and b) have problems in their own lives with which they haven’t/couldn’t deal.
Carry on and try to ignore those negative comments, the positive far outweigh them!

    1. Thank you Frances, I see another blog reader feels I shouldn’t have raised the issue either.
It was frightening what happened to Lucy and I wonder if he wasn’t concentrating what if a child had run out.
Some people have no idea how much anxiety and depression can change lives, sometimes the smalles thing give a knock to whatever little confidence you have.

      1. I really don’t understand why anyone at all would object! As you say, a child could have run out & driver wasn’t paying attention.
I can’t manage bus travel, I’m sure you’ve seen my ongoing problems with Irish Rail on Twitter.
If we don’t speak up, who will?

  2. I’m glad you have posted this Val. Bullies need to be shown that they are not going to win. And you have every right to speak on subjects you feel strongly about. Why should you be silenced to please others? I’m happy that you will continue to vlog and blog, and I am also pleased you have felt supported by the majority of your followers. I don’t understand the point of following someone merely to criticise them and be personal and nasty to them.

      1. It says more about them…they are unhappy, insecure, anxious, afraid, been bullied themselves and this is the only power they feel- tons of reasons- send compassion and keep on doing what your doing 🙂

  3. Good for you Val, always call them out! Make them face you. How shameful that she is someone you actually know.

  4. Well said, you have handled this like a pro- I’m sooo proud of you. You spoke your mine, clearly, concisely and with out any name calling or degrading the other person. To bad the other person does not have these skills, or if they have them, chooses to not use them. Remember, those hurtful remarks, says more about the other person, it has nothing to do with you. You had a concern, you voiced it well and you keep on doing what you are doing, and take good care of yourself int he process. As a mental health educator/advocate/writer and inspirational speaker, and a person who is so in the public eye with regards to my mental health journey, I have had a few bumps with people. My favorite line to use, is” I respectfully agree that we disagree” and then carry on. This does not give the person any fuel and often they don’t know what to do because they are ready for a fight. The more I see of your work, the more I see we have in common, thank you for doing what you are doing and speaking up for those who cant. Also, Lucy did an amazing job telling the driver he missed her stop..I have been in that position and not been able to say anything. Well done Lucy !

  5. I have huge admiration for you Val, always standing up for what you believe in. Its the way I raise my kids, to speak when it needs to be said, even when its not popular or easy. You know deep down in your heart when you are right, and when it feels right, then do it!! Keep the blog going its great and i know it both helps and inspires other people, and often makes me smile
