Thoughts on the blog

After the interesting Digital Workshop yesterday it got me thinking about the blog. Here’s where you, the readers, come in.

I love the blog and it will continue because it’s my outlet for thoughts and feelings. I also love the interaction I get through it and I have had some fantastic experiences because of it.

I’m just not sure if I should keep it all as one as I have been doing or change it up a bit:

  1. Do nothing, just keep it as it is.
  2. Start a blog for all things Sligo related and not have the things to do in Sligo on this blog. Keep this just as a personal thoughts/rants/health/diary blog.
  3. Keep this as the Sligo related blog and perhaps start another one for the personal stuff.

Let me know what you think.  Also do you prefer more photos and less writing or the other way around?

Thanks in advance.

  1. The personal blog is lovely but if you started a Sligo blog it would do really well with tourist based businesses. They would be more likely to want to advertise on it if it was dedicated to tourism. The way you write would resonate with visitors. It is easy, real and contains no bull**** . Your photos are so good too. I say go for it Val.

  2. This is a very difficult question, Val. ‘Keep it as it is.’ is too easy – yet I like it as it is (your blog was one of the first I followed). The balance between writing and photographs is just right.
If you started a Sligo blog in addition – consider me as one of your first followers. Whatever you decide will certainly be right.
Have a lovely Friday ahead. ☘

  3. Hi Val.. I love your blog and following your adventures and ups and downs through life..I think your very brave to let the world know everything you go through in your writing . I admire you for this. I wish I could be so upfront with things like you.I think you have the balance perfect regarding photos and writing. I also love reading about Sligo, I am ashamed to say I have never visited Sligo! Isn’t that a disgrace. If you decided to do a “Sligo” blog.. I will definitely sign up

  5. I enjoy all your posts, and love your photos, which I could look at all day. I’d happily sign up for both. I can see the merits in keeping a Sligo/photo blog separate as it would attract different traffic who would not have any interest in your personal posts.
Great to see you so proactive.

  6. Hi Val,
Seems ages since we first met on Facebook & here I am starting out in the blogging world. Nice to make contact again.
It is so kind of you to ask of your readers their preferences. I am trying desperately in a person centred way to make my blog posts easily accessible by pretending that I am a complete stranger to my site and by pressing on the various links which will lead me to each one. There is quite Abit of repetition and certainly I am nowhere near where I want to be but I refashion when I get chance. I am only writing my blog so far for pleasure. I suppose if you are wanting to use your information about Sligo with the tourist board it is only sensible to start a seperate one. It may be however that Sligo is a big part of you and I recall your posts seeming that way so it may be as well to continue as you are. I think you are the best person to make that decision.
