Last weekend I went for a little explore and ended up in Tubbercurry.
First stop was the old railway line, it’s now fenced off so I couldn’t get to walk along it but I managed to get this pic above through the fence. It would be great to see it open again and the Sligo Greenway are hoping this will happen.
Onwards to Drummartin Market, which is just outside Tubbercurry. The market is on every Saturday from 10.30 – 12.30 selling home-made cakes, jams, breads and crafts. They also sell organic Dexter beef and I’m told in the summer they will be selling organic vegetables too. Once a month they hold a gardening club and all are welcome to attend.
After the market I went for a stroll around Lough Talt. I didn’t go very far (wrong shoes!) so I will be back again. There is a looped walk you can do right around the lake but part of it is on a busy road so I’d just double back and stay with the sheep.
It really is a beautiful place and so quiet or if you fancy something more adventurous check out Wild Wet Adventures and explore the lake on water.
