When I started planning my Wild Atlantic Wayfarer project part of my hopes were to see places from different angles so I was delighted to get back up into a plane again and fly over Sligo.
I have to say I’m not great with heights – or planes. So to get up in a small plane was a challenge but I was grand and we were blessed with a lovely day. We flew from Sligo airport (Strandhill) and went from Aughris to Mullaghmore and back to the airport.
It was great to see all the different colours and changing landscape. It’s a fantastic way to look at Sligo.
I was thrilled to see dolphins. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen them in Ireland. One day I’d love to do a whale and dolphin watch boat trip – if I can manage the boat! Probably more of a challenge than the plane!
Thanks to my brilliant pilot for a wonderful time in the sky and all who helped organise this for me. If you fancy trying your hand at flying you can contact Sligo Aero Club.
This is part of the #wawayfarer project in conjunction with LookWest and the Hawk’s Well Theatre.
Wow! Never knew Sligo was so beautiful!
