Essential Me – A Review

Emer from Essential MeEssential Me produce handmade, all natural beauty products and they are all made in Sligo. I got some wonderful testers to try from Emer at Essential Me.

Essential Me was started as a transition year project and is now managed by Emer. They produce aromatherapy beauty products such as bathbombs, soap, lip balm, handcream, relaxing oils and scents etc. which can all be used as great gift ideas or general daily use. All of the products are handmade and produced, and they are all approved by a qualified aromatherapist. I can highly recommend them, they smell gorgeous. They are very well priced as well, something to suit all budgets.

RoseThere are lovely scents to choose from including rose, lavender, jasmine and ylang ylang, mandarin and many more. They also make custom hampers for any occasions at very reasonable prices. The nicest thing is that they aren’t over-powering scents and as Jono is very sensitive strong smells this is very important for me. I find most of the shop bought shower gels are very strongly scented, I really like Lush but I find it too strongly scented and also very expensive.

I  loved the chocolate lip balm…it tasted good enough to eat!! The lavender oil which helps combat headaches, is a fantastic idea. I suffer a lot with headaches and when I’ve felt them come on I’ve used the oil and the headache has gone.  The hand creams made my hands very soft and didn’t leave them greasy which is very important for me with the photography.  Lucy tried some of the products too and she will do her own blog about them as she has a much better way with words than I do.

The products are on sale every Saturday in the Benbulben Craft Market, The Dome Longford, Handmade Crafts Store Belmullet and Greengate Flowers in Collooney and online on facebook

The company got through to the all Ireland finals of Junior Dragons Den out of 250 applicants, I can’t reveal if they will be on the tv show yet but fingers crossed!  We should know in the next couple of weeks when the show is aired. I think Essential Me would be a wonderful product for a chemist, beautician or spa to stock. Best of luck Emer and keep making your lovely products.

  1. Well done and fair play to you, Emer! You have done something brilliant and wonderful, and all of us – your ‘neighbours’ at the Ben Bulben market – are over-the-moon delighted and chuffed for you. It’s quite an achievement and you deserve all the kudos and all the success that has come your way. We’ll all be watching the ‘Junior Dragons Den’ final and we wish you and Essential Me the very best. – June at CelticMoon Craft

ps – Val, it was great seeing you at the market today. More of that again soon, please. 🙂

  2. pps – I agree with you about the chocolate lip balm. I love it, and yes – it is delicious! 🙂 I’ve not yet tried their lavender oil, but I should do, as I sometimes suffer with air pressure/sinus headaches. I also agree with you completely about Lush – while I have bought their products whenever we’re in Dublin, and I do really like their stuff, they are on the expensive side, yes. Why go all the way to Dublin when we have something wonderful right here in Sligo…and in my case, a few tables down from me at the Ben Bulben market! Perfect!
