I recently went to take photos of some of the beautiful animals looking for homes at Sligo Animal Rescue. It’s lovely to see the animals but also heart-breaking at the same time. Above is Shep, he’s a really beautiful dog, he was tied up for five years by his previous owner. He’s now in boarding kennels because there isn’t a foster home for him at the moment, he was so loving and sat at my feet gazing up at me. I think about him often and he really would be a wonderful faithful companion for anyone willing to give him a home. You can find out more about him here.
Next is Gypsy a beautiful male collie of approx. 18 months ago, he is also in a boarding kennels due to lack of foster homes. He would need a lot of exercise so it’s something to consider if you give him a home. I’m delighted that K9 Fit are helping out Sligo Animal Rescue by bringing these dogs for regular walks and runs, it’s brilliant to see the photos of them enjoying themselves. You can find out more about Gypsy here.
Mikey is a lab x age 7 months approx. He’s a very lovable and social guy, would make a really lovely pet. He’s also in boarding kennels due to lack of foster homes, so perhaps if you can’t take on one of the these lovely animals on a permanent basis you might consider fostering one to give them a break from the kennels. You can find out more about Mikey and all the other animals here.
Rossa is a collie puppy , 7 months old , a fun fella, enjoys been out and about for his walk, good with other dogs . He will require a home where the family will take the time and patience required to do basic fun training with him. There are a lot more dogs of every shape and size looking for homes, I’ve only blogged about the ones I’ve met.
You can also watch this brilliant video about the work Sligo animal rescue does:
There are also some beautiful cats and kittens looking for furever homes, again I’ll just post photos of the ones I’ve taken photos of but there are lots more on the Sligo Animal Rescue Facebook page.
How could you resist these beautiful blue eyes?
Is there anything more fun than watching kittens play?
If you aren’t in a position to rehome or foster an animal and would like to donate to Sligo Animal Rescue you can do so here.
Good work Val – once again you are doing something important for the community and especially these beautiful animals. I am leaving tomorrow but if I can help by a donation, I will be happy to.
Thank you Michael, the link for donations is in the blog post, they would be very grateful as they don’t get any state funding.
Awwww Val- this is just so wonderful! You are just such an amazing lady.
(Fantastic photographer too) ❤
Not at all Ursula, I wish I could do as much as you do for the animals 🙂
I think anyone getting a new pet should get them from rescues.
