Yesterday morning myself and Rocket-dog headed up Carrowkeel which is a Megalithic passage tomb cemetery in the Bricklieve Mountains. It’s years since I was here so it was great to go back again. When I arrived I saw the sign said no dogs but I couldn’t leave himself in the car and he was on his lead the whole time. It’s probably because it’s open farmland and other dogs might chase the sheep.
So anyway we got out of the car and I went to grab my camera….only to find I’d forgotten to bring it!! I’m such a muppet! Not only did I forget the camera I also forgot my purse and I needed petrol…not my day yesterday.
All these pics were taken with the phone but I’m going back again with the camera.
It’s a really lovely walk, not difficult at all. In fact easier than Knocknarea and much more peaceful.
The views are stunning. Rocket-dog was very impressed.
It was also really warm on the walk up, you’d never think it was October, it’s been beautiful.
It did get colder when we got to the top though so I needed my coat for that bit. It’s a really magical place, you could feel something very special about it. I think it’s a lot nicer than Carrowmore, I guess because it hasn’t been developed, it’s left as it should be.
If you do get a chance to go it’s well worth a visit. It’s just off the N4 at Castlebaldwin. I’ll be back, with the camera next time! Here are the rest of the photos…thank heaven for camera phones. Oh and as for the lack of money and petrol, guess what? I found €8 in my coat pocket…and I never wear that coat!! Someone out there was looking out for me. 🙂

Haven been to ever tomb but hope to and know I know if I only have time for one….Carrowkeel it will be. Lovely pix even with your phone camera. Go Rocket dog!!
It’s a really special place 🙂
Beautiful, thanks for sharing & put it on my list to visit.
Thanks Lorna 🙂
I think I went to Carrowkeel on a school tour; I’d love to go back again.
