Culture Night in Sligo, 2012

Culture Night in Ireland takes place on Friday 21st September, 2012. All over the country loads of free cultural events will be taking place. I’m really looking forward to it. Last year I went to the Hawkswell Theatre, Sligo and enjoyed the wonderful music..you can read the blog about it here.

This year Tabby will be hosting the events in the Hawkswell Theatre. Tickets are free so don’t leave it too long to get yours. Acts on the night will include The Candles, Ruby Ridge, The Corrupt, Grizzly Dippers and This Side Up. The party will continue in the foyer afterwards with one of Sligo’s most popular cover bands Sugar Rush. The only one of those I’ve seen before is Ruby Ridge – Sharon Conway is the lead singer – they are a fantastic band. I’ve heard great things about the other acts, it promises to be a great night.

If that wasn’t enough for you there are also fantastic events in The Model with a family cinema night. You can see The Deep Dark Wood, The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Toy Story. Click here for tickets.

The Model are also hosting visual art with their galleries open until 10pm; A music exhibition from 5pm until 10pm and a music performance from ‘Chequerboard’ from 8pm-10pm. You can find out all about these events here.

The Blue Raincoat Theatre Company will host workshops and tours at The Factory including a sculpture workshop with Bettina Seitz.

A samba workshop with master drummer Peter Crann will take place at The Factory. Also ceramic artist Lynda Gault will give a demonstration of her creative craft. Sligo are certainly pushing the boat out for Culture Night, 2012. You can check out their Facebook page here. Or download the programme here.
