Mullaghmore

Today I went to Mullaghmore which is in North Sligo. It’s a lovely quiet seaside resort with two hotels (although I think one is shut at the moment), Paddy’s Place (which is a shop) and a harbour.

It was actually a really lovely day in Sligo, unlike most of the rest of the country. My face even caught a bit of sun.

There were a lot of tourists around and I felt quite sorry for them because the Pier Head Hotel wasn’t serving food until 12.30pm and there was nowhere else to get anything hot to eat. They had to wander around until the hotel opened.

There is this very pretty coffee shop but it wasn’t open when I was there, which was a shame because I would have gone in there.

I saw this beautiful dog outside the hotel, it reminded me of ‘Lassie’.

There were also some horses ‘parked’ in the hotels ‘horse park!’ Yes really a car park for horses complete with a bath tub full of water for them.

After my walk around the harbour and beach I went for a drive towards Classiebawn Castle which was the former home of Lord Mountbatten. It is a really beautiful area, even nicer when the sun is shining.

Further along the road I saw some lovely friendly sheep and lambs. They actually came up to me đŸ™‚ I do wonder why they had numbers on though. Maybe a way to pick the lotto?

So Mullaghmore is another place that really is worth a visit, although I was disappointed that the cows that are sometimes on the beach weren’t there today. Although it’s probably a good thing they weren’t, I’ve read in the paper before that one of them hurt a tourist.

  1. Fab photos and a beautiful place Val. I’m intrigued to know what the tourists were looking at đŸ™‚ Also the numbers on the sheep, the farmers number the ewes and her lambs with the same numbers so that he knows who belongs to who.
