Strandhill

On Tuesday I was on my way into town when Lucy got a call to say her training centre was shut. As the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day we decided to head to the beach. Strandhill is just out of Sligo town and although it’s not safe to swim in the sea there it’s lovely to sit on the sand and watch the surfers.

We decided to have lunch in The Strand. It’s a lovely pub and was nice and cool after sitting in the sun. The food and the service are wonderful.

I had a goats cheese, red pepper and pesto pannini. Lucy decided to go for the spaghetti bolognese which was served with garlic bread.

The pub is lovely, really olde worlde.

I had to laugh when I saw an old telephone box in the middle of the place.

There are also quirky signs and funny quotes around the place.

The pub is so geared up towards its customers there is even a hair styler unit in the ladies toilet! I think that’s a great idea, especially as it’s always so busy down at the beach.

After lunch and a walk along the beach we went into Maple Moose which is an ice cream parlour. They also sell lots of other goodies. Lucy’s ice cream sundae is above 🙂

I love the slush puppie machine, I also loved the sweet selection. I managed to resist temptation this time 😉

Sorry for all the photos….I got a bit carried away! They aren’t the best quality because they are from the phone.
