Saturday was St. Patrick’s Day and while we don’t turn our rivers green we still have a wonderful day. The photo above was taken in the morning. I headed out to walk the dog at 8am, it was worth getting up early to see the frost and fog.
The Sligo town parade started at 12 noon so I was in there from 11am to get a few pics of the floats setting up. My friend who runs Sligo Today asked me to email him some photos which I did.
There were some lovely floats including the one from Feeney’s Garden Centre which had little lambs, pigs and chickens.
The horses and riders from Markree Riding Stables took part in the parade and looked wonderful.
The Abbott float was excellent, they had built an ark complete with Noah and all the animals in preparation for another Irish summer. O’Hehirs bakery had the Titanic as their float. There were also floats from Coolaney Utd, Youth Reach, the Indian society of Ireland who had made a beautiful peacock. So many people had made such a big effort and it was lovely not to have all the range of new cars taking part (must be the recession 😉 )
There were also bands from all over Ireland and the UK. It was a great parade. The rest of my photos are here.
