I went on a bit of a magical mystery tour yesterday. I didn’t find the place I was looking for but I ended up at the Gleniff Horse Shoe. Which I have to say is one of the most breathtaking places in Sligo.
I didn’t pick the best day to go what with all the rain clouds. They give a kind of strange effect to the mountains.
The place was almost deserted when I was there. I only spotted one person walking a dog. I’m glad I didn’t meet up with any other cars as it’s a fairly narrow lane.

What a beautiful place!
It is, we are very lucky to have such scenery around us.
Beautiful, beautiful pictures. Amazing place. Isn’t it wonderful how those memories of certain days, certain places and moments stay with you forever? 🙂

Thanks, it is a really beautiful place.
When you go around the horseshoe, you may have seen a cave up the mountain. This is reputed to be the cave where Diarmuid and Gráinne (from the old Irish myth) hid from Fionn MacCumhaill before Diarmuid’s untimely death. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pursuit_of_Diarmuid_and_Gr%C3%A1inne
It’s well known locally as a great pot-holing cave.
Interesting stuff. I did see the cave. I didn’t see Diarmuid and Gráinne though 😉
